Jon has been consulting for over 17 years and understands the high level of personal care expected at an independent practice and has a keen interest in all areas of modern optometry including contact lenses, paediatric optometry, glaucoma, diabetic care and therapeutics.
John has experience as a clinical instructor for students at the University of Melbourne, Deakin University and UNSW. He has also participated in optometry aid work in Sri Lanka and Vanuatu.
John is the owner of Reservoir Spectacles, and is committed to getting the best possible outcome for every patient that works in the door.
Dr Flora Hui
Dr Flora Hui has a particular interest in innovative methods to improve patient outcomes in optometry and ophthalmology and neuroprotectants for treating glaucoma.
She completed a Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in fundamental sciences, concentrating on animal models of glaucoma and using the retina as a biomarker for the brain.
Dr Flora Hui conducted a world-first clinical trial investigating high-dose nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) as a neuroprotectant in human glaucoma, showing that nicotinamide could lead to early and significant improvements to visual function. In addition, building upon her preclinical work, she was involved in a landmark study investigating the use of hyperspectral retinal imaging to differentiate people who were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Laura’s optical career commenced in 2001. She received extensive training whilst working for a corporate optical store.
Laura recently returned into the optical world after raising a young family, operating her own kitchen business and worked as a freelance makeup specialist.
Laura is involved in multiple areas across the business. She is in charge of the day to day running of the practice and is always looking for ways to help the team improve and grow.
Laura’s favourite part of the business is helping clients in selecting the perfect frame and lens options to update your look and enhance your vision.
Carmela completed her Optometry degree in 1994, graduating from the University of Melbourne.
After working in country Victoria for 17 years as an Optometrist, she moved back to Melbourne in 2012 to be closer to family and then joined the team at Reservoir Spectacles soon after.
She practices full scope optometry, managing and treating ocular conditions for people of all ages.
She has been involved in overseas work in Vietnam and had the opportunity to exchange knowledge with optometrists in Mexico.
