Independent local care

Meet the people behind your eye care.

Reservoir Spectacles is a long-standing local practice that has cared for the Reservoir community for decades.

The clinic is owned by optometrist John Sweeney, who provides comprehensive eye examinations, children’s vision care, urgent eye care and contact lens services with a strong focus on careful clinical care and clear communication.

Before owning Reservoir Spectacles, John worked in an independent Williamstown practice, taught at the Australian College of Optometry and undertook overseas aid work in Sri Lanka.

We make time to listen, explain your options and answer questions.

Find us on Edwardes Street.

What to bring

Bring your current glasses, any prescription or referral you have, and a list of your medicines. Tell us what has changed and which tasks are difficult.

For lens advice, bring the frames you hope to use and tell us about your work, reading and outdoor activities.

Sudden eye symptoms

Some problems should not wait for a routine booking.

Sudden vision loss, severe eye pain or a serious eye injury needs urgent medical assessment. Do not wait for an online appointment or a message reply. If we are closed or cannot provide timely care, go to an emergency department.

For new flashes or floaters, seek urgent advice. Read our urgent eye care guidance. In an emergency, call 000.
